Family

I am in complete amazement on how much my children have changed my life. There's so much to share on what I've experienced. From the highest highs to the lowest lows. I often drive around and find myself created a log of my experiences. From pregnancy, breastfeeding, attachment parenting, cloth diapers, natural home care, chiropractic care, budgeting, traveling, homeschooling, marriage, shopping, and life in between. So I've decided on writing about it all. I'll first start with a back round of myself.
I grew up primarily in Southern California in beautiful Orange County. I was athletic and have always had a love and passion for the outdoors. When I was 18 years old I landed a great job as an Executive Assistant (fancy word for Secretary) for a Executive Vice President of a growing Internet company in the heart of the dotcom boom located in Irvine. I was married for a short time at 20 years old however that didn't work out for many reasons. I attempted to go college however my degree came through osmosis. I worked a lot until I was 26 years old. My success became my own dark hell. I forgot who I was but knew there was something better for me.
I took a trip to the island of Maui that changed my life forever. As the plane came into land in Maui's airport I felt as though I was wrapped in a warm blanket and my mother was giving me a long embrace. Those two weeks went by quick and I knew that I would never be the same. Little did I know what was in store for me. I realized once home in Southern California that as crazy as the idea was I was moving to Maui. It all materialized in about two and half months. My life did turn completely upside down before and after the move. Within three months of being on Maui my life completely changed again and I had become part of large family on Maui where I was embraced and held up to endure the first two years of the highest highs and lowest lows.
In this time I met and became friends with my now husband. I also became pregnant with our first son. As my own immediate family was transforming so where my choices. I discussed having a home birth with my husband and started making phone calls to women that I knew who recently had children. At first it seems like a foreign idea to give birth at home with the help of a Midwife. I also tried out a few OB GYN's and was not comfortable with them. A friend referenced some reading material, Birthing from Within by Pam England and Mothering Magazine as well as a name of a Midwife. This path did come with many comments both negative and positive. As we followed our guts we started our journey to parenthood.
Through the pregnancy of my first son I read, talked, and searched online for any information that would support my beliefs. We took a birthing class and met like minded parents and rode our cloud of fear and excitement until our son was born. I ultimately birthed my son in the hospital after almost a day and half of labor. Two years later my second son was birthed at home with the help of a Midwife. Through these experiences I gained a voice within that was full of information and more questions. This blog is dedicated to sharing my thoughts and the information I've found.
